Ninth Inning Grand Slam Pushes Creighton Over Nebraska

By Kaleb Henry Apr 17, 2024 | 5:52 AM

Nebraska baseball had it until the last moment Tuesday.

Creighton rallied in the ninth inning to beat Nebraska 6-4 at Haymarket Park. NU falls to 23-11 while Creighton improves to 27-7.

The Huskers led 3-1 after seven innings, but the Bluejays plated one run in the eighth and added a grand slam in the ninth. NU got one run in the bottom of the ninth inning and had runners at second and third before a strikeout ended the game.

Seven Huskers spent time on the mound, including a nearly flawless start from Caleb Clark. The freshman lefty notched four strikeouts while issuing one walk and allowing no hits over 2.0 innings.

Kyle Perry took the loss after facing just four batters with three of them reaching safely in that fatal ninth inning.

NU smacked six hits on the day, led by a 2-for-4 effort from Josh Caron.

Nebraska will stay home this weekend to host Maryland.
